    Privacy is protected by law here like in many developed countries. Any one opening the letters or sealed document of another may be imprisoned not more than six months and fined not more than one thousand baht or both. Search can be done in a private property only with a search warrant of the count or in the case of an offence being committed in such a place or in the case of hot pursuit following an offender running into the place or an offence is being committed therein, which can be seen or heard from outside.

    Yes, there is a big difference between Thailand and developed countries about this. The difference is that obscene and pornographic pictures are prohibited here. So a foreign visitor may bring in some nude pictures according to their law. That may give him/her troubles because they have to comply with Thai law when they come here. Some years ago when I was in Japan. I went to a cinema that showed sexual moving pictures where children 18 were not allowed to watch. But in Thailand no such pictures are allowed.

    Any person taking another person away forcefully or by deception for ransom shall be imprisoned from fifteen to twenty years or imprisonment for life. He/she mat be punished with death, however.Taking away a person not older than 15 from his or her guardian or from person caring him/her without a reasonable cause shall be punished with imprisonment from three to fifteen years. Therefore, a foreigner has to be very careful about this.

    Well, taking, importing or exporting humans or buying or selling them, for slavery or to enslave them or to keep them in a position similar to a slave is punishable with imprisonment of not more than seven years and fine not more than fourteen thousand baht. If the damaged person is under 15, the offender shall be imprisoned from three years to 10 years and fine not more than twenty thousand baht. If the damaged person is affected either mentally or bodily, the offender is imprisoned from five to fifteen years and fine not more than thirty thousand baht. If the damaged person is severely harmed, the offender shall be imprisoned for lift or imprisonment from seven to twenty years.

    No, he is not guilty under this context. However a married man has no right to do so because he cannot have more than one wife. Around 1971, I was a trial at Udonthani provincial court in the northeast of Thailand. I tried a case Of this type. The offender claimed that he took the girl to be his wife. I asked him, “Are you a single man?” He turned around agitatedly and said with a shaking voice, “I am married, sir.” So I imprisoned the offender for how long I don’t remember exactly, possibly five years. The Court of Appeal affirmed my judgment.

    Yes there is. Taking a person away or seducing her(him) to gratify other person’s sexual desire, though with consent of person so taken, is an offence, punishable with imprisonment from one year to 10 years and fine from two thousand to twenty thousand baht. The punishment is set so high because the offence is regarded as part of human trading. If the person so taken or seduced is under 15 years old, the imprisonment is as high as twenty years. Any person receiving the person so taken or seduced for the said purpose is punishable with the same imprisonment and same fine.
